On Saturday, my family and I went walking down the Eamont Way from Penrith to Pooley Bridge. Amid the chaos of getting lost and my (undocumented) blundering into a ravine of cow dung, we had a wonderful day. The Eamont Way is a lovely walk, and I look forward to doing it again in the future. This video was a lot of fun to make. What it (sadly) doesn't have on is footage of when we took a wrong turn, ended up walking about three miles in the wrong direction and getting stuck in a cow field just outside a farm. I saw a gate, so - assuming it was the correct way to go - I walked towards it, taking care as I stepped onto a particularly muddy part of the path. As I felt my foot squelch ankle-deep into the boggy mess, the realisation hit me that it wasn't, in fact, mud. No, dear reader, what I'd walked in, and had to wade through for about five metres, was pure, unadulterated cow shite. You'd think that was bad enough. Imagine my horror when, upon reaching the gate, I saw a great big padlock on it, and had to turn around and walk all the way back through the dirty, rotten, stinking cow excrement. It was disgusting, but I have to say, I quite enjoyed getting on the bus home with all the youngsters tarted up for their nights out and absolutely stinking the place out! Despite the mishaps, it was really a wonderful day. Sadly, we were too stressed to get photos of me vanishing into the cow mess, but we got some awesome photos and videos, which I have compiled into the above memento. I hope you enjoy it.
